Away we go

Today we are heading for Barton on Humber, to the start of the Viking Way, a 147 mile route from the banks of the Humber to the shores of Rutland Water. We have chosen this route, rather than a more well-known route, at the behest of my sister, Anne Hallam. In the past she has spurned the Pennine Way and turned up her nose at the Coast to Coast, but some years ago she conceived an ambition to walk this rather obscure route, motivated, I can only surmise, by the same perversity which has led her to support Notts County for the last 30 years.
